aRTIVISM

Art + Activism = ?

'As any seasoned activist can tell you, people just don’t decide to change their mind and act accordingly, they are personally moved to do so by emotionally powerful stimuli. We’re moved by affective experiences to do physical actions that result in concrete effects: affect leads to effect.'

-CENTRE FOR ARTISTIC ACTIVISM

Art is a strong tool for change. It can capture people's attention and motivate them to take action.

By using art to tackle social and political problems, connect communities, and promote sustainability, it can bring about positive social change. Art can change the way we think and start important conversations. It raises awareness about social issues and helps create a better society. Throughout history, artists have used their art to speak up against political and social problems.

Art can also unite people from diverse backgrounds and give marginalized communities a voice. Additionally, it can shed light on social issues and motivate people to act.

We develop visual art installations and murals for public spaces, which are designed and developed by our founder in collaboration with our multi-award-winning design team at Manasaram Architects. Our artivism workshops are launching in December 2024 at the CGBMT HQ in Devanhalli!

In the past, we have harnessed the power of photography and collaborated with various artists to share intersectional experiences of street harassment. Here are some examples of photo series we’ve done in the past in Australia.

My Experiences
A man with a beard stands against a plain white background. The left side of his body is dressed in a red T-shirt, while the right side features a colorful, patterned jacket with floral and abstract designs. His left arm has a tattoo, and he is wearing casual shoes. He looks directly at the camera with a neutral expression.
What I wanted to wear VS What I wore

how do we engage in artivism?

ARTIST COLLABORATIONS

Every year, we collaborate with around 2-3 visual artists on themes focusing on street harassment, public spaces, social justice, and intersectionality. If you are a visual artist interested in collaborating with us, please reach out to us via our contact form.

WORKSHOPS

Using tools, theories, and techniques of creative activism, we will organize and facilitate artivism workshops for people of all ages. The goal is to empower people to inject art into their activism and develop their understanding of social issues in their fight against social injustice. Launching in December 2024 at our HQ in Devanhalli, Bangalore!

ART INSTALLATIONS

We design, build, and/or curate visually captivating art for public spaces that elevate awareness, foster community, and inspire individuals to take action toward promoting social causes. If you would like an installation done, please reach out to us via our contact form.
